Brian D’Oliveira helming music composition for Shadow of the Tomb Raider with Martin Stig Andersen sound-designing, plus the return of "The Instrument" & promotional tracks released

Square Enix have announced the composer(s) for the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider; the main composer being Brian D'Oliveira (Resident Evil 7, Batman: Arkham Knight), with Martin Stig Andersen (as rumoured) hired as ambient audio designer to write supplementary material:

"Tomb Raider is widely known for its genre-defining music and sound design. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is no exception and Eidos-Montreal has brought together a unique music team to make this one of the most exciting and compelling games of the year." - Square Enix

Although neither Jason Graves nor Bobby Tahouri are returning to the rebooted franchise, "The Instrument" commissioned by Graves for Tomb Raider (2013) is being incorporated again into Shadow of the Tomb Raider. A video detailing the making of the music for the Shadow announcement trailer was also released, showcasing Brian D'Oliveira at work in is La Hacienda studio:

Find the full press release after the jump, as well as several promotional tracks via Tomb Raider's YouTube channel and Crystal Dyamics' SoundCloud. MoTR has confirmed with Square Enix that not all of these tracks are going to be included in the Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Original Game Soundtrack (the official album to be released digitally as enclosed in special retail editions of the game).

Martin Stig Andersen attached to Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Composer Martin Stig Andersen has been attached to the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider, if the website of the award-winning Dane is anything to go by. A seemingly unpublished node lists credentials for "TOMB RAIDER: Ambient music design (underwater) for The Shadow of the Tomb Raider". Andersen is well known in the video game music sphere for his ambient work on Limbo (2010) and Inside (2016).

We first heard music for Shadow of the Tomb Raider in March, but the composer is yet to be officially announced. The attachment of Andersen, as per his website description, does not indicate that he is involved in the capacity of main composer - there perhaps could be more than one on board, with Andersen writing supplementary music only. The thematic motif created for the rebooted series by composer Jason Graves carries over, last utilised by Bobby Tahouri in 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the eleventh pillar instalment of the Tomb Raider franchise - starring the pop-culturally iconic Lara Croft, to be released worldwide on September 14th, 2018. Owners of special retail editions are to receive a dedicated soundtrack album release to download.
