A notational look at Alan Silvestri's "Pandora's Box" from
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life


With a new Tomb Raider film on the horizon inspired by the 2013 video game reboot of Tomb Raider, guest author Tudor Tulok looks back at the most recent Lara Croft: Tomb Raider screen media - 2003's The Cradle of Life. Composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, the musical score to Cradle borrows and expands upon Nathan McCree's original motif from the first Tomb Raider video game score in 1996. "Pandora's Box", however, an intensely emotional track that accompanies the climax of the film, is a fresh composition of Silvestri's:

Tomb Raider composer to perform live at Joystick [Updated]

Update: Today Jason Graves has published the live orchestral recording of the 10 minute "A Survivor Is Born" suite, via his SoundCloud collection Tomb Raider - Additional Music. The composer conducted the piece in Sweden on the 15th of June.

The newest composer attached to the Tomb Raider franchise is set to conduct performances of his score to the 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider (as well as Dead Space 3) during concerts on May 31st and June 1st. The two-time BAFTA winning Jason Graves will guest conduct the Malmö Symphony Orchestra over two nights in Sweden for the fifth annual "Joystick" concert:
